Oxfam is seeking an outstanding Country Director to lead its Bangladesh programme and drive impactful development, humanitarian, and advocacy initiatives across the country.

About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership for Oxfam’s operations in Bangladesh, overseeing programme development, humanitarian response, advocacy, partnerships, fundraising, and organizational transformation.

Working closely with the Asia Regional Platform and Regional Director, the Country Director will ensure that Oxfam Bangladesh contributes meaningfully to regional priorities while strengthening partnerships with government, civil society organizations, donors, media, academia, and the private sector.

The position is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh and offers a two-year fixed-term contract with the possibility of extension.

Key Responsibilities

The Country Director will:

  • Provide strategic leadership for Oxfam Bangladesh.
  • Lead the implementation of Oxfam’s 2030 Global Strategic Framework.
  • Oversee development, humanitarian, and influencing programmes.
  • Strengthen partnerships with government, donors, civil society, and international organizations.
  • Manage programme quality, operational effectiveness, and organizational performance.
  • Lead fundraising and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Ensure strong financial oversight and compliance.
  • Manage security, risk management, legal compliance, and emergency preparedness.
  • Represent Oxfam at national, regional, and international levels.

Who Should Apply?

Oxfam is looking for a highly experienced senior leader with a strong commitment to social justice and humanitarian values.

Applicants should ideally have:

  • At least 3 years of director-level leadership experience in development, humanitarian, or influencing programmes.
  • Around 10 years of experience leading multidisciplinary teams in complex environments.
  • Experience working in Bangladesh or South Asia.
  • Strong leadership and organizational transformation skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and advocacy experience.
  • Proven fundraising and financial management expertise.
  • Experience working with governments, donors, UN agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Experience managing security, risk, legal compliance, and humanitarian responses.
  • Demonstrated commitment to gender equality, inclusion, and community participation.
