About the MEL Officer Role

The MEL Officer will support the quality and effectiveness of Notify Health’s data and monitoring systems.

A major part of the role involves reviewing data submissions, identifying errors, conducting audits, processing and analysing data, and providing feedback to improve data quality.

The position also contributes to improving data processes, training staff and identifying opportunities for automation and more efficient monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

Executing the MEL System – 60%

The officer will:

  • Review data submissions from health workers and field staff.
  • Provide feedback on record-keeping and photo quality.
  • Conduct ongoing programme and project audits.
  • Produce reports and recommendations.
  • Support evaluation activities through data processing, cleaning and analysis.

Digitisation – 20%

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing photos of health records.
  • Determining which records proceed to data entry.
  • Overseeing data entry activities.
  • Checking completed entries for errors.
  • Investigating and adjudicating data discrepancies.
  • Producing feedback and reports for the data entry team.

Process Improvement and Learning – 20%

  • Train staff on SurveyCTO data collection and data entry.
  • Contribute MEL findings to programme meetings.
  • Propose improvements to monitoring and evaluation processes.
  • Support automation and improvements to templates and workflows.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience in a relevant field such as:
