About the Role

The Resource Allocation Mechanism Project Intern will support Amnesty International’s work to coordinate grant-making processes that provide financial and technical assistance to national entities within the organisation’s global movement.

Working within the Movement Building Programme, the intern will collaborate with colleagues in finance, fundraising and national entities to help ensure that the Resource Allocation Mechanism operates efficiently, transparently and in line with organisational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

The successful intern will support the coordination of Amnesty International’s RAM grant-making process and help ensure that funding decisions and related processes are well organised and transparent.

Key duties will include:

  • Supporting the RAM grant-making process in collaboration with Movement Building and Finance teams.
  • Planning and coordinating the Redistribution Committee’s work programme.
  • Supporting the due diligence process for RAM funding requests.
  • Helping evaluate funding requests submitted by national entities.
  • Supporting communications with national entities throughout the funding process.
  • Drafting and coordinating RAM decision letters and Memorandums of Understanding.
  • Tracking funding allocations, contingency requests and reporting requirements.
  • Supporting timely payments and compliance with organisational requirements.
  • Taking responsibility for specific projects and assignments under the guidance of the line manager.

The role will require strong attention to detail because the intern will work with funding information, reporting requirements and multiple stakeholders across Amnesty International’s global structure.

Skills and Experience

Amnesty is looking for an individual with an understanding of the needs and challenges of a global membership organisation.

Strong analytical and data-handling skills are important, particularly the ability to work with datasets for reporting and decision-making. Candidates should be comfortable using Microsoft Excel and/or other data analysis tools.

Experience in project coordination, logistics and reporting will be beneficial. The successful candidate should also have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to develop positive working relationships in a multicultural environment.

The ability to work under pressure, manage competing priorities and meet deadlines is essential.

Applicants should have completed or be studying towards a relevant academic qualification in areas such as social sciences, international development, public policy, business, economics or finance.

Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Knowledge of French, Arabic or Spanish would be an advantage.
