About the Role

The Head of Economic and Social Justice will lead Amnesty International’s global work on:

The successful candidate will oversee the Economic and Social Justice team, ensuring that research, advocacy, policy, and campaigning activities align with Amnesty International’s global strategy.


Key Responsibilities

The successful applicant will:

  • Lead Amnesty International’s global strategy on economic and social justice.
  • Manage an international team of researchers, campaigners, and policy experts.
  • Develop research priorities and advocacy strategies.
  • Oversee budgets and resource planning.
  • Build relationships with donors and funding partners.
  • Provide expert legal and policy advice to Amnesty International’s leadership.
  • Ensure quality assurance across research and policy outputs.
  • Coordinate international campaigns promoting economic and social rights.

Required Qualifications

Applicants should demonstrate:

  • Significant experience in economic, social and cultural rights.
  • Strong legal and policy expertise.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary international teams.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Proven fundraising experience with foundations and trusts.
  • Knowledge of economics, development studies, or social sciences is highly desirable.
  • Outstanding communication and strategic leadership abilities.
