Greenpeace International is seeking a visionary and strategic Co-Head of Story & Communications to shape and deliver inspiring narratives that fuel global environmental and social justice movements. This is an exciting opportunity to lead at a senior level and help craft authentic stories of radical hope that inspire millions worldwide.

This position is offered on a 12-month contract with the possibility of extension or conversion to permanent, subject to local terms. It is open to candidates in locations where Greenpeace has an operational National or Regional Office (NRO), with some regional restrictions.


About the Role

Greenpeace is powered by ordinary people doing extraordinary things. As Co-Head of Story & Communications, you will partner with the current Co-Head to:

  • Lead and implement global storytelling and communications strategies.
  • Grow the scale and power of the environmental justice movement.
  • Drive narratives that support Greenpeace’s mission to forge a sustainable, equitable, and peaceful future.

The role sits within the Programme Department and involves leading a dynamic “team of teams” — including three global communications hubs, a media library, digital channels, influencer communications, and strategy teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Design and implement communication strategies to support impactful global programmes.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Engage with colleagues across programme, fundraising, and technology teams to ensure a coherent and compelling global narrative.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build strategic partnerships and strengthen relationships with allies, particularly in the Global South.
  • Communications Oversight: Manage Greenpeace International’s communication channels and tools to maximize impact.
  • Team Management: Lead and develop a multidisciplinary communications team across regions and time zones.
  • Crisis Communications: Provide strategic support during critical incidents and high-pressure situations.
  • Resource Management: Oversee budgets, resources, and operational planning.

Qualifications and Experience for Greenpeace International Co-Head of Story & Communications 2026

  • Senior-level leadership in story and communications strategy.
