Background & Job Description

The Economic Recovery Coordinator will work with DRC’s coordination and implementation teams to strengthen economic recovery programming.

The role covers technical support, capacity building, coaching and monitoring across food security, livelihoods, market systems and financial inclusion. It also supports approaches such as green graduation, regenerative agriculture and cash-based assistance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Provide technical advice throughout programme implementation.
Support development and implementation of the economic recovery strategy.
Review proposals, reports, assessments and evaluations.
Build the capacity of teams and partners on cash and voucher assistance and market systems.
Develop guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures and learning products.
Assess economic recovery capacity gaps and support capacity-strengthening initiatives.
Analyse economic recovery trends, programmes and challenges in Uganda.
Support MEAL activities and context-based learning.
Represent DRC in relevant technical coordination forums.
Engage donors, government, NGOs and other stakeholders.
Identify partnerships and funding opportunities.
Support fundraising, advocacy and business development.
Work with DRC technical teams at country, regional and headquarters levels.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

A Master’s degree in Political Science, International Development, Economic Studies or a related field.
At least five years of practical humanitarian-sector experience.
Experience in food security, livelihoods, agriculture and financial inclusion.
Experience implementing livelihoods and financial inclusion interventions across the project cycle.
Knowledge of cash-based assistance and market assessment.
Experience with programme planning, budgeting and proposal development.
Experience providing direct and remote technical support.
Experience working with local partners, authorities and INGOs or consortia.
Knowledge of current economic recovery approaches, including graduation, self-sufficiency and partnerships.
Experience facilitating training in agriculture, entrepreneurship, business planning and related areas.
Previous experience in refugee response in Uganda.
Excellent written and spoken English.
Knowledge of Core Humanitarian Standards or other accountability standards.

Contract and Working Conditions

The position is a 12-month contract based in Kampala, with frequent travel to programme locations.

The salary and employment conditions will follow the Danish Refugee Council’s terms for national employees.
