FHI 360 is seeking a Diagnostics and Laboratory Specialist for GHS in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The position supports laboratory diagnostic network strengthening under the EpiC Kyrgyzstan GHS project.

The specialist will support laboratory systems strengthening and provide technical assistance to government institutions working across human, animal and environmental health.

The role focuses on improving laboratory quality, biosafety, biosecurity, genomic surveillance and overall laboratory service performance.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will support:

Laboratory and diagnostic activities and technical guidance.
Development and updating of laboratory guidelines and SOPs.
Collaboration with government counterparts and Technical Working Groups.
Planning meetings, workshops and training programmes.
Training and mentoring laboratory staff.
Laboratory systems strengthening across health sectors.
On-site technical assistance and capacity building.
Procurement and maintenance of laboratory supplies.
Development of work plans, presentations and reports.
Laboratory quality assurance and audit activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

A Bachelor’s degree in Medicine or Biological Sciences within a clinical or diagnostic discipline.
A Master’s degree is an advantage.
At least 4 years of experience in infectious disease diagnostics and/or laboratory systems strengthening.
Experience in laboratory quality assurance, biosafety, biosecurity and audits.
Experience conducting laboratory audits against national or international standards.
Experience training and mentoring staff.
Experience working with government officials, particularly Ministries of Health.
Experience with an international organization is preferred.

Kyrgyz and Russian fluency are required, while English fluency is preferred.

The position is open to Kyrgyz residents and is based in Bishkek. Travel is expected to be approximately 50%, mostly within Kyrgyzstan.
