The Program Associate will play a pivotal role in managing operations, supporting strategic grantmaking, and driving collaboration across 32 countries. The role requires excellent organizational, research, and communication skills, as well as a passion for accelerating the global energy transition.
Key Responsibilities for Program Associate at ClimateWorks Foundation
The Program Associate will support GETI’s Senior Director and a global team of 12 professionals in ensuring effective program coordination, grant management, and communication across multiple time zones.
Program and Grant Management
- Support tracking, monitoring, and budgeting of program grants.
- Assist in grant documentation, progress reporting, and database management.
- Coordinate with the finance and grants teams to ensure compliance and timely processing.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL)
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) and outcomes for program initiatives.
- Support development of learning frameworks and program assessments.
- Compile data for donor reports and internal briefings.
Research and Strategy Development
- Conduct policy and technical research to inform strategy in emerging markets.
- Help identify potential partners, grantees, and new areas of investment.
- Prepare briefings and background notes for leadership and partners.
Communication and Coordination
- Draft communications, internal memos, and knowledge products for networks and stakeholders.
- Assist in organizing online and in-person convenings, workshops, and roundtables.
- Maintain effective communication with regional and international partners.
Representation and Engagement
- Represent ClimateWorks in meetings, calls, and working groups.
- Act as a point of contact for selected program areas.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align program priorities.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in climate mitigation, clean energy, or energy transition programs, preferably in emerging markets.
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Policy, Economics, Environmental Science, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or background in electrical engineering or power system modeling is a plus.
- Proven experience in project and grant management, ideally in a nonprofit, philanthropic, or policy advisory setting.
- Strong understanding of the political, business, and civil society dynamics influencing power sector decarbonization.
- Excellent writing and communication skills for both technical and general audiences.
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and project management tools such as Salesforce, Asana, or similar platforms.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in fast-paced, global environments.
- Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) in the workplace.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed.

- Experience working with international NGOs, government agencies, or donor organizations.

Compensation
ClimateWorks Foundation offers a competitive salary and benefits package based on experience, location, and local cost of labor.
- Salary Range (US – Bay Area/NYC): $75,000–$80,000 annually
