Job Purpose
As one of Amnesty International’s West Africa researchers, you will serve as a lead expert on the region’s human rights situation. The role involves designing and executing research and campaigning strategies to influence policy, support advocacy, and deliver real-world human rights impact across West African countries.
You will provide authoritative analysis and advice, manage complex investigations, and represent Amnesty International in high-level discussions with governments, international institutions, media, and partners.
Main Responsibilities
- Lead research and campaign strategies for Amnesty International’s work on human rights across West Africa.
- Monitor and analyze political, social, legal, and human rights developments across the region to produce accurate, independent assessments.
- Conduct field missions — leading or supporting investigations, interviews, fact-finding, and data analysis.
- Produce research outputs including public reports, press releases, policy briefs, and internal documents.
- Collaborate with regional and global teams, providing expertise and advice for campaign design, advocacy priorities, and crisis response.
- Represent Amnesty International in meetings, briefings, and media engagements.
