About the Programme
This role is part of the Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAW) portfolio within UN Women Türkiye, contributing to the project:
“Restoring and Strengthening the Preventive and Protective Services in Response to Violence Against Women Affected by the Earthquakes in Türkiye (2024–2027)”
The project focuses on rebuilding and improving survivor-centered services for women and girls impacted by the 2023 earthquakes. It aims to enhance service delivery, strengthen institutional capacities, and promote empowerment initiatives that support women’s recovery and resilience.
Key Objectives of the Project:
- Improve access to quality protection and empowerment services for survivors and those at risk of violence.
- Reconstruct and refurbish shelters and protection centers in affected provinces.
- Build technical capacity of public institutions and staff working in prevention and protection services.
- Support survivors’ socio-economic empowerment and post-shelter integration.
Role Summary
Reporting to the Programme Specialist, the Programme Assistant provides administrative, financial, and logistical support to ensure smooth implementation of programmes under the Ending Violence Against Women portfolio.
The Assistant will coordinate day-to-day tasks related to programme management, finance, and operations in line with UN Women policies and standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Programme and Administrative Support
- Assist in the preparation of work plans, budgets, and project implementation proposals.
- Support the tracking of fund allocations and expenditures.
- Provide administrative inputs during programme audits and follow-up actions.
- Collect, compile, and present background information, data, and reports.
2. Financial and Procurement Management
- Assist in financial monitoring, including preparing FACE forms and processing payments.
- Create requisitions in the Quantum ERP system and record goods received.
- Prepare non-PO vouchers and ensure compliance with UN Women financial rules.
- Maintain internal financial control systems and support budget tracking.
- Contribute to procurement and spending plans.
3. Logistical and Operational Support
- Organize meetings, workshops, and field missions.
- Handle travel arrangements for programme staff and consultants.
- Draft meeting minutes and assemble briefing materials.
- Maintain proper filing systems and mailing lists for documentation.
4. Support to Partnerships and Resource Mobilization
- Compile data and documentation from donors and partners for reporting.
- Assist with coordination of communication between programme teams and external stakeholders.
5. Knowledge Building and Capacity Support
- Support training and capacity development sessions for partners and staff.
- Collect and organize knowledge products, case studies, and best practices related to EVAW projects.
6. Other Administrative Functions
- Ensure compliance with UN Women’s operational guidelines.
- Support team coordination and contribute to internal efficiency measures.
Required Qualifications for UN Women Programme Assistant
Education
- Secondary education (high school diploma) required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development, Business, or Public Administration is an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible experience in administration, procurement, or logistics (2 years with a bachelor’s degree).
- Experience supporting UN or EU-funded projects preferred.
- Background in gender equality, women’s empowerment, or human rights is an asset.
- Strong experience in organizing events, trainings, and partner coordination.
- Familiarity with ERP systems (preferably Oracle Cloud) is highly desirable.
