About the Role
The Research Partnership Manager plays a key role in bridging research and practice, ensuring that CARE’s programs and advocacy efforts are rooted in rigorous evidence and global best practices.
This position sits within CARE’s Impact, Learning, Knowledge, and Accountability (ILKA) team under the PSAI (Program, Strategy, Advocacy, and Impact) division, working across departments to enhance CARE’s research footprint, learning systems, and evidence-based impact.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Partnership Development
- Identify, establish, and manage partnerships with universities, research centers, think tanks, and global research consortia.
- Conduct partner mapping, due diligence, and agreement negotiations.
- Build long-term, mutually beneficial collaborations that advance CARE’s strategic evidence agenda.
- Manage research fellows, interns, and visiting scholars involved in CARE’s projects.
2. Collaborative Research and Evidence Generation
- Co-design and manage joint research projects that align with CARE’s mission and strategic goals.
- Ensure research quality, ethical standards, and contextual relevance across projects.
- Provide technical support on both qualitative and quantitative research methods.
- Co-develop training sessions and capacity-building activities for CARE staff and external partners.
3. Knowledge Management and Learning
- Lead the synthesis and dissemination of findings from CARE’s research partnerships.
- Produce learning briefs, policy summaries, and case studies for internal and external audiences.
- Promote organizational learning and evidence use through communities of practice and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Champion the integration of data-driven decision-making into program design and advocacy efforts.
4. Research Fundraising and Grant Management
- Identify and pursue funding opportunities for research collaborations with donors, foundations, and government agencies.
- Support proposal development, budget planning, and partner coordination for research grants.
- Ensure alignment with donor compliance and reporting standards.
- Help build CARE’s financial sustainability for evidence-generation initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in International Development, Public Policy, Economics, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of professional experience in research, evidence generation, or partnership management within the international development or humanitarian sector.
- Proven experience collaborating with universities or research organizations.
- Strong knowledge of research design, data analysis, and evaluation methods.
- Excellent communication and writing skills for translating technical findings into actionable insights.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects, budgets, and partnerships effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD or advanced research training in social sciences, economics, or related disciplines.
- Experience with donor-funded research projects and grant management.
- Proficiency in Spanish or French.
- Experience using CARE’s preferred data tools (e.g., Power BI, DHIS2, KoboToolbox, Dioptra, or R).
- Familiarity with gender equality, climate resilience, and poverty reduction research themes.
