IMPACT Initiatives is seeking a Senior Research Officer for Mozambique based in Pemba. The role supports multi-sector needs assessments, research, data analysis and evidence generation for humanitarian planning and decision-making.

About the Role

The Senior Research Officer will support the management and delivery of REACH’s multi-sector assessment portfolio in Mozambique.

The position covers the research cycle from assessment design and methodology development to data collection oversight, analysis, reporting and dissemination. The role also involves coordination with humanitarian partners, government counterparts, research teams and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Manage relevant research cycles, including research design, data collection and analysis.
Develop and oversee analytical workstreams and research outputs.
Lead research design, tool development and data collection.
Support analytical capacity building within the Mozambique mission.
Provide direct and indirect management of research staff.
Coordinate with headquarters, research teams and senior management.
Engage externally on analytical research findings.
Maintain strict confidentiality of research data and related processes.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

At least 3 years of relevant experience in a humanitarian setting.
Strong quantitative and qualitative research and data analysis skills.
Understanding of the aid system and research community.
Experience with humanitarian coordination forums is preferred.
Multi-sector assessment experience is an asset.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
A master’s degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as international studies, development, humanitarian response, data science or political science.
Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
Knowledge of R, SPSS, STATA or other statistical software is an asset.
Ability to work in a complex and challenging security environment.
Fluency in English.
Portuguese language skills are an asset.

Previous experience in the region is desirable.

Salary and Benefits

The vacancy states a monthly salary of CHF 2,580 to CHF 2,640 before income tax, plus a USD 300 monthly living allowance.

Other benefits include accommodation and food in the guesthouse, insurance, pension arrangements, flight tickets every six months, visa fees, luggage transportation support and 36 days of annual leave per year. Pre-departure training and security training are also provided.
