PATH is recruiting a Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Officer to support the African Medicines Agency (AMA) in Kigali, Rwanda. The role focuses on strategic communications, stakeholder engagement and advocacy supporting regulatory systems and access to health innovations across Africa.

About the Role

The position will support the AMA’s communications and stakeholder engagement work, including developing communications outputs, strengthening advocacy and communicating progress on regulatory harmonization across Africa.

The role has a direct reporting line to the AMA Communication Directorate and a dotted reporting line to PATH’s Regional Director, Center for Advocacy and Policy.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

Support AMA strategic communications and stakeholder engagement plans.
Produce media releases, social media content, policy briefs, success stories and advocacy materials.
Translate complex scientific, regulatory and research concepts into accessible messages.
Support high-level events, webinars and learning exchanges.
Capture and share best practices and lessons learned.
Monitor communications activities and report on progress.
Build relationships with AU bodies, national regulatory authorities, media and advocacy networks.
Represent AMA at strategic meetings when delegated.
Support policy briefs, articles and other advocacy communications.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

A bachelor’s degree in communications, public health, international relations, journalism or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred.
Experience developing and implementing communications strategies for global health or policy initiatives.
Experience leading stakeholder engagement in health, regulatory affairs, public policy or international development.
Strong writing, editing and multimedia content skills.
Strong written and verbal proficiency in English and French.
Experience working with governments, African Union institutions, civil society and media partners.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Cultural agility across different countries and sectors.
Legal authorization to work in Rwanda.
Familiarity with AMA’s mandate and Africa’s regulatory harmonization initiatives.
Experience communicating about health technologies, research and development or regulatory systems.
Experience with social media strategy, digital campaigns and analytics tools.
