Environmental and Social Safeguards Senior Coordinator – Conservation International

Conservation International (CI) is recruiting an Environmental and Social Safeguards Senior Coordinator to support its Global Safeguards Team. The role focuses on environmental and social safeguards, human rights, conservation, project support, communications and capacity building.

The successful candidate will support the CI Safeguard System, which is designed to help prevent adverse environmental and social impacts while strengthening benefits for people and nature.

The position may be based in Bolivia or Ecuador and will support projects, staff and partners through technical assistance, research, training, reporting and knowledge management.

Key Responsibilities

The role will involve:

Supporting the implementation of the CI Safeguard System.
Providing technical assistance for project design and implementation.
Organizing safeguards training and capacity-building workshops.
Developing and maintaining user-friendly technical resources.
Supporting safeguards reporting and communications.
Conducting research on safeguards best practices and emerging trends.
Managing internal communications and knowledge platforms.
Providing administrative and logistical support for events and consultants.
Supporting CI staff and partners with safeguards-related resources.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

A Bachelor’s degree or up to four years of university studies.
2–4 years of general work experience.
Demonstrated interest in environmental and social safeguards and/or human rights in conservation.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
Experience with graphic design and communications.
Ability to develop user-friendly technical materials.
Strong proficiency in Microsoft 365.

Additional languages such as Spanish, Portuguese, French or Indonesian are preferred. Academic training or professional experience in conservation, safeguards or international development is also desirable.
