Pan African University (PAU) Scholarships 2026–2027 Available Institutes
Successful applicants may study at one of the four PAU institutes located across Africa:
- PAU Institute for Basic Sciences, Technology and Innovation (PAUSTI) – Kenya
- PAU Institute for Life and Earth Sciences (PAULESI) – Nigeria
- PAU Institute for Governance, Humanities and Social Sciences (PAUGHSS) – Cameroon
- PAU Institute for Water and Energy Sciences (PAUWES) – Algeria
Each institute offers specialized Master’s and PhD programmes aligned with Africa’s strategic development goals.
1. Admission Requirements for Master’s Programmes
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Limit:
- Male applicants: Under 25 years old
- Female applicants: Under 28 years old
- Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree (Second Class Upper Division or equivalent) from a recognized university in a relevant field.
- Documents Required:
- Certified copies of university and high school certificates and transcripts
- Valid passport or national ID (personal details page)
- Recent passport-size photo (2cm x 2cm)
- Detailed CV
- Recommendation letter from one university lecturer
- Names and contacts (email & WhatsApp) of three academic referees (mandatory)
- Special Note:
- Applicants for the Master’s in Conference Interpreting and Translation must demonstrate excellent command of at least two official African Union languages (Arabic, English, French, Portuguese, Kiswahili, or Spanish).
- Shortlisted candidates may undergo written or oral assessments.
2. Admission Requirements for Doctoral (PhD) Programmes
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Age Limit:
- Male applicants: Under 28 years old
- Female applicants: Under 30 years old
- Education:
- A Master’s degree in a relevant field from the Pan African University or another internationally recognized university.
- Documents Required:
- Certified copies of degree certificates and transcripts
- Valid passport or national ID (personal details page)
- Recent passport-size photo (2cm x 2cm)
- Detailed CV
- Two recommendation letters from university professors
- A 3–4 page Research Concept Note, including:
- Tentative title
- Research questions
- Objectives
- Significance of the study
- Names and contact details of three referees (mandatory)
Scholarship Coverage
Successful candidates will receive full scholarships funded by the African Union Commission, which include:
- Tuition and registration fees
- Monthly living allowance
- Accommodation
- Medical insurance
- Air travel for non-local students
- Research and conference participation support
