UNDP Washington offers two competitive internship tracks:
General Internship
Designed for students interested in policy, development, governance, economics, or international affairs. Responsibilities may include:
- Attending U.S. Congressional hearings and policy forums
- Assisting in drafting reports, briefings, and communications
- Supporting UNDP events and outreach

Communications & Outreach Internship

- Supporting digital storytelling, video editing, and graphics

- Experience in journalism, communications, media, or digital marketing

- Audio/video editing skills

Eligibility Requirements

- Able to work 3 consecutive months, minimum 24 hours per week

- Written and spoken proficiency in English
- Commitment to UN values
No prior experience is required.
Internship Conditions (Paid)
- Interns receive a monthly stipend, based on location
- Part-time interns receive pro-rated pay
- Interns are responsible for:
- Health insurance
- Visa arrangements (if applicable)
- Housing and daily expenses
- Some positions may allow remote or hybrid work
- The internship does not guarantee employment with UNDP
