About the Sierra Leone Coastal Resilience Project

Save the Children is implementing the Sierra Leone Coastal Resilience Project, a five-year climate adaptation initiative focused on strengthening the resilience of coastal communities.

The project places particular emphasis on women, children and youth and works through locally led adaptation, improved livelihoods, climate-resilient services and ecosystem restoration.

The project also integrates advocacy, communication and Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) approaches to promote climate-resilient practices, strengthen community engagement and document evidence and learning.

About the Advocacy and Communication Coordinator Role

The Advocacy and Communication Coordinator will support the implementation of advocacy, communication and SBC activities at field level.

The role works closely with the Chief of Party, District Project Managers, MEAL team and ACCM unit. The successful candidate will serve as the project’s communications focal point and will engage with partners and other stakeholders.

Key areas include strengthening project visibility at community, national and global levels and ensuring high-quality documentation of project results and impact.

The position will also coordinate the production of case stories, photographs, videos, baselines and learning products.

Key Responsibilities

Advocacy and Stakeholder Engagement

The coordinator will support implementation of the project’s advocacy strategy and coordinate advocacy initiatives relating to climate resilience and policy influence at national and district levels.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organising stakeholder consultations and policy dialogues
  • Supporting advocacy meetings and campaigns

Qualifications Required

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication, Development Communication, International Relations or a related field.

  • At least three years’ experience in advocacy and communication work for children or youth programmes
  • At least two years’ experience working with an international organization
