Plan International is recruiting a Grant Finance Specialist – EU INTPA Project in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The position is designed for an experienced finance professional who can support the effective financial management of grants throughout the full project lifecycle.
The role involves grant setup and budgeting, forecasting, expenditure monitoring, financial reporting, donor compliance, partner financial management, audit support and grant closure. The successful candidate will work closely with project teams, consortium partners and other stakeholders to ensure that donor funds are managed efficiently and that project expenditure remains aligned with approved budgets and applicable policies.

For this position, the Grant Finance Specialist will report to the Grant Finance Manager and will support an EU INTPA Project running until June 30, 2028.
Tasks
The Grant Finance Specialist will have responsibility for a broad range of financial and grant-management activities.
A major part of the role will involve managing grant setup, master-data creation and budget administration using SAP systems. The specialist will also support budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, budget realignment and cash-flow management throughout the project.
The position will require the preparation and analysis of financial reports, budget-utilisation reports and donor financial submissions. Accuracy and compliance will be particularly important because the role involves ensuring that financial information meets both organisational and donor requirements.
The specialist will also provide financial guidance and capacity building to Project Managers. This includes helping programme staff understand budget management, expenditure control and grant implementation requirements.
Additional responsibilities include monitoring expenditure, cash flow, foreign-exchange impacts and cost recovery. The specialist will also conduct financial reviews, field monitoring visits, spot checks and risk assessments intended to strengthen accountability and reduce financial risks.
Partner financial management is another important part of the position. The successful applicant will work with consortium partners and stakeholders on expenditure monitoring, advance liquidation and financial reporting reviews.
The role also involves supporting grant closure activities, including reconciliations, clearing outstanding payments and completing final donor reporting requirements.
Qualifications
Education and Certification
Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Finance.
The position requires a solid understanding of financial management principles and the ability to apply them within development and humanitarian grant environments.
Experience
Plan International requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in Grant Management, preferably within an NGO environment. At least three years should have been at a senior level.
Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities as well as the ability to influence others through effective relationship building.
Experience with financial systems, particularly SAP, is required, alongside advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
