Position Overview
Position: Associate Communications Officer, Social Media
Employment Type: Full-Time
Department: Communications Division
The successful candidate will support the implementation of social media engagement strategies that strengthen the Gates Foundation’s global brand, increase audience engagement, and promote its advocacy initiatives across multiple digital platforms.
Working closely with the Senior Manager, Digital Strategist, the Associate Communications Officer will help develop creative campaigns, manage social media content, and support storytelling across the foundation’s flagship social media channels.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
- Support platform-specific social media strategies.
- Create engaging content for multiple social media platforms.
- Draft and review captions and promotional content.
- Develop creative briefs and campaign plans.
- Coordinate with creative agencies and production teams.
- Collaborate with internal communications, branding, and marketing teams.
- Monitor social media engagement and respond to audience interactions.
- Track emerging social media trends and recommend innovative content ideas.
- Assist with video and multimedia content creation.
- Support integrated communications campaigns.
- Help strengthen the Gates Foundation’s global digital presence.
- Travel domestically and internationally as required (up to 30%).
Qualifications
Applicants should possess:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Literature, Political Science, or a related field.
- Experience managing or supporting social media campaigns.
- Knowledge of digital marketing and content strategy.
- Experience using social media management platforms such as:
- Sprinklr
- Sprout Social
- Opal
- Strong writing and editing skills.
- Project management experience.
- Ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Experience producing or editing short-form video content.
- Experience using Adobe Creative Cloud for graphics and video editing.
- Interest in communicating complex global issues including health, poverty, education, climate change, and gender equality.
Salary
The Gates Foundation offers a highly competitive salary package.
Salary Range
- $118,200 – $177,200 USD (general range)
- $130,000 – $195,000 USD for positions based in high-cost markets such as Seattle and Washington, D.C.
Actual compensation will depend on qualifications, experience, and interview performance.
