The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is seeking an Economic Recovery Coordinator in Kampala, Uganda. The role provides technical support, capacity building and programme coordination across economic recovery activities, including food security, livelihoods, market systems and financial inclusion.

About the Role

The Economic Recovery Coordinator will work with DRC Uganda’s coordination and implementation teams to strengthen programme quality and implementation. The role also supports the development and implementation of the Country Economic Recovery strategy.

Key areas include cash and voucher assistance, market systems approaches, green graduation, regenerative agriculture and financial inclusion.

Key Responsibilities

The role involves:

  • Providing technical advice to programme implementation teams.
  • Supporting technical strategies and the Country Programme Strategy.
  • Reviewing proposals, reports, assessments and evaluations.
  • Building capacity among DRC and partner teams.
  • Developing guidance, Standard Operating Procedures and learning products.
  • Supporting monitoring and evaluation and sector capacity assessments.
  • Analyzing economic recovery trends and programme challenges in Uganda.
  • Representing DRC in relevant coordination forums.
  • Supporting fundraising, partnerships and business development.
  • Identifying funding opportunities for economic recovery programmes.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

  • A Master’s degree in political science, international development, economic studies or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of practical humanitarian-sector experience.
  • Experience in food security, livelihoods, agriculture and financial inclusion.
  • Experience implementing livelihoods and financial inclusion interventions throughout the project cycle.
  • Knowledge of cash-based assistance, market assessments and market-based programming.
  • Experience with programme planning, proposal development and budgeting.
  • Experience providing technical support to operational teams and working with partners.
  • Strong English communication and writing skills.
  • Experience facilitating training in areas such as graduation approaches, agriculture, income-generating activities and entrepreneurship.
  • Previous experience working in the refugee response in Uganda.
  • Knowledge of the Core Humanitarian Standards or similar accountability standards.

Contract and Location

The position is based in Kampala, Uganda, with frequent travel to programme locations. The contract is for 12 months, with an expected start date of October 2026.

Salary and employment conditions will follow the Danish Refugee Council’s terms for national employees.
