The Womankind Worldwide Programme Manager Job 2026 offers an opportunity to coordinate a major multi-country women’s rights programme working across Africa and Asia.

The Programme Manager: Strengthening Activists and Defenders (STAND) role supports a three-year Norad-funded project operating across Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Nepal, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

STAND is designed to support and strengthen feminist movements and Women Human Rights Defenders (WHRDs) in challenging operating environments.

Womankind Worldwide leads the partnership and works with seven implementing partners across the six countries.

The Programme Manager will coordinate the project at Womankind, helping ensure activities are delivered on time, within budget and according to donor requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Programme Manager will:

  • Coordinate day-to-day delivery of the STAND project.
  • Manage coordination with implementing partners.
  • Support sub-grant management and project events.
  • Coordinate donor reporting, compliance and budgets.
  • Monitor expenditure, forecasts and financial risks.
  • Coordinate Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning activities.
  • Support cross-country learning and partner convenings.
  • Coordinate organisational strengthening and safeguarding activities.
  • Support advocacy and communications activities.
  • Maintain project management, risk and audit systems.
  • Build relationships with internal teams, partners and external stakeholders.

International travel to STAND project countries may be required, subject to safety and operational considerations.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have a relevant degree or equivalent professional experience in areas such as international development, gender studies, human rights or social sciences.

The organisation seeks candidates with experience in:

  • Managing multi-country, donor-funded programmes or consortia.
  • Coordinating multiple partners throughout the programme cycle.
  • Managing substantial programme budgets and forecasts.
  • Donor compliance and reporting.
  • Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning.
  • Working with women’s rights organisations, feminist movements or Women Human Rights Defenders.
  • Programme risk management in sensitive or insecure environments.
  • Safeguarding and ethical data management.

Experience with Norad or similar institutional donors is desirable.

Location and Working Arrangement

The position can be based in Kenya or the UK, provided the candidate has the right to work in the relevant country.

The vacancy is listed as hybrid, while the role involves collaboration across multiple time zones. Occasional early-morning or evening meetings may be required.

International travel may also be required.
