About the Oxfam Internship
The Oxfam Public Engagement Internship sits within the Office of the Vice President of Public Engagement. As an intern, you will work closely with several cross-functional teams, including:
- Media & Public Relations
- Content & Design
- Digital & Supporter Engagement

This internship gives you a real-world look into communications strategy, campaigning, digital storytelling, grassroots mobilization, and brand visibility in a global development organization.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)
The internship is designed to give you broad, practical experience in communications, media relations, and digital advocacy. Your responsibilities may include:
1. Media Monitoring & Liaison
- Track and compile news mentions related to Oxfam’s work
- Maintain a database of U.S.-based journalists
- Respond to incoming media inquiries
- Support administrative work for the media relations team
2. Community Engagement & Events
- Assist in organizing local community events such as Hunger Banquets
- Support brand-building outreach activities
- Provide coordination and logistical support for public events
3. Social Media & Digital Communications
- Monitor hashtags, online conversations, and trending topics
- Assist with social media posting and community engagement
- Review and proof website and digital content
4. Project & Asset Management
- Support team workflow using Asana (project management system)
- Upload, tag, and review multimedia content in Inuru (Oxfam’s global asset management platform)
- Ensure ethical documentation — including consent forms and content metadata
- Train staff on how to use the Inuru system
