Position Overview

UNICEF is seeking an Advocacy Consultant (Polio Outbreaks) to support global polio advocacy efforts during a critical period in 2026. The role is based under New York HQ (DGCA – Division of Global Communication and Advocacy) and is remote/work-from-home.

Scope of Work

Working closely with Global and Regional Advocacy Managers and the Gates Foundation Grant Focal Point, the consultant will:

  • Develop concept notes and project plans for global advocacy initiatives
  • Produce advocacy resources and materials for global and regional events
  • Create donor-facing reports and advocacy result documents
  • Support coordination efforts across UNICEF offices
  • Strengthen documentation of advocacy impact to secure future funding

Minimum Requirements

Education

Master’s degree in one of the following or related fields:

  • Medicine
  • Epidemiology
  • Public Health
  • International Relations
  • Public Policy
  • International Development
  • Human Rights
  • Global Health
  • Communications or Journalism

Experience

  • Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in global/public health, advocacy, or communications
  • Strong report writing and research skills
  • Proven experience producing:
    • Advocacy briefs
    • Talking points
    • Concept notes
    • Donor reports
    • Campaign materials
  • Experience managing projects and coordinating with multiple stakeholders
  • Experience presenting complex policy ideas clearly and succinctly

Preferred

  • Experience in polio eradication programs or outbreak response
  • International-level advocacy experience
  • Experience in humanitarian or emergency environments
  • French language skills (desirable)

Technical Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft SharePoint, Word, PowerPoint, Excel

Compensation

This is a consultancy position with competitive compensation, determined based on:

  • Level of experience
  • Scope of work
  • Financial proposal submitted by the applicant
