The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is inviting applications for the position of IT Business Relationship Director, Americas. This is a senior, full-time opportunity focused on strengthening the relationship between information technology and programme operations across the United States and Latin America.
The position is based in the United States and offers a hybrid working arrangement. The role is permanent, with a salary of $132,000 per year, subject to work location, experience, skills and other factors.
IRC IT Business Relationship Director Job 2026
The International Rescue Committee is one of the world’s major humanitarian organisations, working across more than 40 countries and 29 U.S. cities to help people affected by conflict and disaster. Its work focuses on restoring health, safety, education, economic wellbeing and power to communities.
The IT Business Relationship Director will serve as a strategic link between IT and programme leadership across the Americas. The position will work particularly closely with Resettlement, Asylum and Integration (RAI) and Crisis, Response, Recovery and Development (CRRD) leadership.
The successful candidate will translate business and operational requirements into IT priorities while helping programme leaders understand how technology can create business value. The role will also identify problems in IT service delivery, manage escalations and improve knowledge-sharing between offices.
Key Responsibilities
The IT Business Relationship Director will act as a senior IT partner to RAI and CRRD leadership, providing strategic advice on IT service delivery, planned initiatives and emerging risks.
A major part of the position will involve maintaining regular engagement with programme leaders and ensuring that IT priorities remain aligned with operational needs. The successful candidate will also serve as the accountable IT contact for escalations, taking ownership of issues through to resolution rather than simply forwarding them to another team.
The role will require sufficient understanding of programme operations to determine whether proposed technology solutions will actually work in the field. The Director will also facilitate knowledge-sharing between offices and help identify successful approaches that can be replicated elsewhere.
Additional responsibilities include supporting IT initiative rollouts, contributing to regional IT budget planning and ensuring that asset documentation, audit readiness and regulatory compliance requirements are maintained.
Escalation and Service Management
The successful candidate will own escalation pathways for issues that fall between helpdesk and engineering teams. This requires strong judgement to determine when an issue should involve IT leadership, vendors, procurement or other specialists.
The Director will monitor service delivery performance and key performance indicators across the Americas, identifying recurring problems and trends that may require broader intervention.
The role will also partner with the Global Service Desk Manager to monitor technician performance and ensure that ticket prioritisation and service-level agreement requirements are being followed.
IRC Job Requirements
Applicants should have six to eight years of experience in relationship management, business partnering or programme/operations roles that bridge technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Experience working in humanitarian, nonprofit or similarly complex distributed environments is strongly preferred. Candidates should have working knowledge of the IT service and technology lifecycle, including planning, delivery, operations and continuous improvement.
Familiarity with IT best-practice frameworks such as ITIL, Agile or Scrum is required, while ITIL Foundation certification is preferred but not mandatory.
Applicants should also demonstrate experience translating operational requirements into technical priorities, communicating technical capabilities to non-technical leaders and tracking performance through KPIs, SLAs or similar measures.
Spanish-language proficiency is identified as an important requirement, alongside strong communication skills and the ability to build credibility with senior leadership. Candidates should be comfortable working with ambiguity and structuring complex problems into practical solutions.
Salary and Benefits
The advertised salary is $132,000 per year. IRC notes that final offers are calibrated according to factors including work location, candidate experience, skills, internal equity and budget.
The organisation offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid sick leave, U.S. holidays, paid time off, medical, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement savings with employer contributions, disability and life insurance, and an Employee Assistance Program.
How to Apply
Interested candidates should submit their application through the IRC careers platform. Applicants should ensure that their CV clearly demonstrates experience in IT business relationship management, stakeholder engagement, service delivery, transformation and distributed programme operations.
The recruitment process may include several interview stages, potentially including a recruiter conversation, hiring-manager interview and final role-specific or panel interview. Reference and background checks are generally completed before employment.
The IRC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and evaluates candidates based on merit. The organisation also does not charge fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
