France MOPGA Fellowships 2027 | €2,500 Monthly Allowance

France MOPGA Fellowships 2027 are open to international early-career researchers, offering €2,500 monthly for 12 months to conduct research in France.

The Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) Fellowships 2027 are now open for early-career researchers from around the world. The programme supports international researchers who want to undertake a 12-month research project in France in areas related to environmental and climate challenges.

Applications opened on 15 September 2026, with a deadline of 15 December 2026. Successful applicants are expected to arrive in France between September and December 2027.

MOPGA Fellowship Research Themes

The 2027 call covers five broad research areas:

Earth system sciences
Climate change and sustainability sciences
Energy transition
Societal challenges related to environmental issues
Human, animal and environmental health under the One Health approach

Projects involving advanced technologies within these areas will receive particular consideration.

Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must:

Hold a doctoral degree awarded less than five years before the deadline.
Have defended their PhD between December 2021 and December 2026, inclusive.
Be of foreign nationality; French nationals are not eligible.
Apply for international mobility to France.
Not be residing and professionally active in France when applying.
Not have previously received a MOPGA fellowship.

An exception to the five-year PhD period may apply in cases of maternity leave, subject to the conditions stated in the call.

Fellowship Benefits

Each 2027 MOPGA Fellowship provides:

€2,500 monthly allowance
€500 settling-in allowance
Health insurance and civil liability coverage
Repatriation assistance and supplementary health insurance after registration with French social security

The fellowship lasts 12 months and is not renewable. International travel costs to France are not covered by the programme.

The fellowship cannot be combined with a French employment contract or another individual funding award from a French government entity.

International collaboration and expected impact

Applications can be submitted in English or French.

Required documents include a CV with publications, doctoral degree certificate or official proof, the host supervisor’s CV, supervisor support documentation, recommendation letters and a passport or national identity document.

How to Apply

Applicants must submit their research project online through the Campus France SMApply platform during the official application period. Applications sent by email are not considered.

Applicants must also identify a suitable French host laboratory, as finding a laboratory or research unit is part of the application process.
