Key Responsibilities

The Research Fellow will:

Design and deliver research projects supporting the Africa Programme.
Produce policy-relevant research on West Africa.
Conduct research covering politics, governance, economy and trade, and security.
Support and design research events and conferences.
Help ensure events include diverse voices, expertise and perspectives.
Contribute to stakeholder engagement and wider programme activities.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should have:

A significant track record of policy research on West Africa.
Experience developing successful research proposals.
Excellent analytical, writing and communication skills.
Experience producing policy-relevant publications with demonstrable impact.
The ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work to deadlines.

Salary and Benefits

The position offers a salary of £45,000 per year.

Benefits include approximately 37 days of annual leave, including public holidays and Chatham House closure days, pension salary exchange, employee assistance, parental leave and flexible working.

Location and Working Arrangement

The position is based at St James’s Square, London.

It is a hybrid role, with the successful candidate expected to work onsite at least two days per week. Additional onsite attendance may be required around events.

Remote working is not available for this position.
